Introduction to Data Analysis with Stata

Stata is one of the most widely used statistical programs in the social sciences. The course offers basic knowledge that is indispensable in many professions - not only in Germany but worldwide.

In this course we will cover the most important tools of data analysis as well as the software Stata. The data analysis is solved by means of tasks with Stata, so that extensive Stata knowledge is acquired. The following contents will be covered:

  • Basics Stata
  • Stata grammar
  • Stata commands
  • Creating and changing variables
  • The description of distributions
  • Basics of statistical inference
  • Introduction to the regression technique


Students will receive a certificate of attendance if they pass the exam.

Language

The language of instruction is German.

Timeframe and Credits

Teaching: The course takes place on 15 dates (duration two hours  each). We expect all participants to have basic knowledge of statistics.

Credit points: 5

Credit can be awarded for the following study program(s):

  • Bachelor Economics

Exam (100%)

Registration

The number of participants in this course is limited to 20. Prerequisite is the participation in the course "Statistics 1". Please register by enrolling in the respective course in Stud.IP. If there are more than 20 valid registrations, participants will be randomly selected by the Stud.IP system.
