25.10.2016: Philipp Schreck published the article "Rankings, Performance, and Sabotage: The Moderating Effects of Target Setting" together with Frank Hartmann (Erasmus University Rotterdam). Based on an experiment, the authors suggest that employee rankings increase sabotage in the company, even if the ranking is not related to employee compensation.
New bema PhD candidates
25.10.2016: We are happy to announce that Philipp Schreck will supervise two more PhD projects from Andani Thakhathi and Rebecca Rühle. Andani and Rebecca are both excellent students and part of the PhD program “Ethics and Responsible Leadership in Business” at the Wittenberg-Center for Global Ethics. Their projects will be in the fields of Corporate Sustainability and Behavioral Business Ethics, respectively.
Moreover, the chair will be supported by two new undergraduate research assistants Lisa-Marie Heimes and Anton Hirschmann.
1. Wittenberger Herbstakademie
12.10.2016: The traditional five-day DNWE academy is organized as the „1. Wittenberger Herbstakademie“ by the Wittenberg-Center for Global Ethics from December 5 - 9. The academy provides excellent students with the theoretical foundations and best practice examples in the field of economic and business ethics. Deadline for applications is October 21.
Talk by Prof. Isabella Grabner on October 26, 2016
11.10.2016: Prof. Grabner will present as part of the series "Reseach in Ethics and Accounting Workshops". Her research projects are about performance measurement and/or the design of incentive systems. Over the last years, her main pillar has become complementing the accounting literature on performance management and incentives with insights from labour economics, which is also reflected in her current research projects. Her work is published in journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review. 5th Academy for Energy and Acceptance
08.10.2016: In spring, the Wittenberg-Center for Global Ethics will host the 5th Academy for Energy and Acceptance. The topic will be "Electromobility as a key to the energy transition?". Students and PhD students of subjects related to energy may apply before october 31st. The event will be in German. F

Guest lectures on compliance and supply chain management
29.06.2016: As part of the course "Business Ethics" (Unternehmensethik), we invite practitioners who can give the students insights into the application of business ethics. In the past two weeks we were lucky to hear two exciting lectures by Dr. Anna-Maija Mertens (Transparency International) and Dr. Peer Wiethoff (Nokia).
Hans-Ulrich Küpper visits bema
20.06.2016: Küpper visited our chair and held a guest lecture in the course "Unternehmensethik" (Business Ethics), where he gave an introduction to his approach to business ethics- analytical business ethics.
Küpper is Professor for business administration at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
First year student? Get to know the Deutsche Bank!
07.06.2016: The Deutsche Bank invites first year students to its one-week "Spring into Banking" program (in German). During presentations, workshops, and networking events students get to know the Deutsche Bank. They get an overview of initial career opportunities and get in touch with experts and recruiters. The event takes place from September 19 - 23. Deadline for applications is July 17, 2016.

17.05.2016: We invited our best students to meet at the chair on May 11. After a brief introduction round the students gave us some insights about their experiences with studying at our faculty. Subsequently Mr. Mulas (PwC Munich) held a presentation on PwC and the possibilities for students and graduates at PwC.
The event is planned to be held once a semester. We would like to take this opportunity to get to know the students better, but also give them the possibility to get to know us and our work.
